Bethlehem: Just when he thought he got away with murder that happened almost fifteen years ago, Senki Mavin Mokoena (39) was arrested by the Bethlehem Detectives when he least expected.
Mokoena was arrested at his workplace at one of the firms in Vanderbijlpark on Sunday; 07 February 2021.
Mokoena was a detainee, together with seven other co-accused, during September 2006 when they allegedly assaulted Petrus Tshabalala who was 40 years then, and later died. His accomplices were later sentenced and served their term while Mokoena refrained from attending court proceedings for the same matter.
Police have since been on his tracks until his ultimate arrest on Sunday; 07 February 2021 and the case was heard on Monday; 08 February 2021. He was found guilty. His sentencing was announced by the Magistrate on the 10 February 2021. Just like his co-accused, Mokoena is expected to spend 90 days in prison and four years, wholly suspended.
Free State Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane has commended investigating officer Detective Captain Jabulani Victor Mbonambi for making sure that he left no stone unturned in ensuring that Mokoena faces the music just like his accomplices.
“This should serve as a warning to other criminals who think they can commit crime and get away with it.” said Lt General Motswenyane.
