Botshabelo: Nine (9) year-old; Ausi Jonas, was reported missing on Sunday; 07 March 2021, when was allegedly last seen walking with her mother’s boyfriend around Section R, Botshabelo.
In the evening of Saturday; 06 March 2021, the missing girl`s mother Nomasomi Jonas (38), had a quarrel with her boyfriend. The next day on Sunday morning, she went to report the domestic violence related incident at a police station and whilst there, the boyfriend allegedly left with her daughter.
The little girl was wearing a blue skirt with a blue t-shirt without any shoes. She is light in complexion and has long hair. Whilst the police were continuing with investigation trying to trace the suspect, information was received that he had been fatally assaulted by the community on Friday; 12 March 2021.
No one has been apprehended regarding the murder.
Police appeal to residents with positive information about the whereabouts of the girl to contact Boithuso Detective Unit at 082 339 9221 or call Crime Stop at 08600 10111, alternatively send information via MySAPS App.
The Provincial Commissioner of Free State, Lieutenant General Baile Motswenyane warned the residents against taking the law into their own hands as this jeopardizes ongoing investigations, but rather allow justice to take its cause by availing perpetrators to the police.
