Thaba Nchu: A suspect has been admitted in hospital after he was allegedly shot several times by a Fidelity security guard. The suspect allegedly tried to rob another Fidelity guard of money at a local Central Business District in Thaba Nchu.
On Wednesday; 07 October 2020, a Fidelity security guard had just collected money from a business outlet around the CBD at Thaba Nchu. As he was heading to their vehicle, a male allegedly attacked him with a metal rod on the head. The guard fell down and his colleague that was waiting for him at the vehicle, allegedly started shooting at the suspect.
The 43 year old suspect was allegedly shot several times on his stomach and was taken to a local hospital. Police were summoned to the scene. A case of attempted robbery and attempted murder will be investigated. No money was taken and police will continue with their investigation.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) said that more patrols will be conducted around the CBD especially during pension payouts to curb heists.
