Viljoenskroon: A Post Office in Viljoenskroon was robbed of a sizeable amount of cash on Tuesday; 03 August 2021.

The allegations point out that, two males dressed in clothes similar to that of security officers approached a 49 year-old Post Office security officer and told him that they were delivering paper. He opened the door and accompanied them inside.

When entering, the security officer was pointed with a firearm and instructed to lie on the floor.  Together with another employee, they were taken to the back where another female employee was busy finishing her duties.

Suspects demanded the keys to the safe and were told they are not available. All were tied up with cable ties and left at the back bathroom.

The suspects allegedly searched the cashier’s drawers and cabinets and after a while, victims managed to untie themselves and found out that they were locked inside the Post Office with no sign of  perpetrators. They were assisted by night shift securities.

The suspects managed to take 3 cellphones and money from the till points before fleeing the scene.

A case of business robbery was opened for further investigation.
