Thaba NchuSelosesha Tactical Response Team working together with the Provincial Crime intelligence Unit and the provincial Serial Electronic Cyber Investigation, went out to trace and arrest a serial rapist wanted for rape cases dating from 2008 till 2017.

The teams visited few addresses where the suspect was identified but with no luck. While on their way to the last address, the suspect was spotted walking in a street and members approached him tactically. Upon seeing a marked vehicle driving towards him, he fled. Officers chased him and arrested him.

The suspect was taken to his accommodation and on arrival police made another discovery, 2x flat screen TVs, 2x Amplifier, SANDF uniform, 40 cellphones, 1 geyser (tank), 1x fan, 1x microwave, a lady’s handbag full of jewelry and 1x laptop.

The suspect aged 47, will appear in the ThabaNchu magistrate court on 7 charges of rape and possession of suspected stolen goods.  More charges are expected to be added, as there is a possibility of linking him with other cases even outside Free State province.

“We would like to commend splendid job done by our team. It is through this collective effort, one criminal responsible for many cases affecting women and children will be removed from our streets.” said the Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Baile Motswenyane.
