Botshabelo: Seven suspects will appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate court soon following the looting of foreign owned shops whilst the other two, were arrested for murder at the foreign national shop in Botshabelo. The looting incident happened on the night of 16 June 2020.

On Tuesday; 16 June 2020, the police received a complaint of an incident emanating from a tuck shop in J section; Botshabelo, which belongs to a foreign national. On arrival at the scene, police found a suspect lying on the floor. He had facial and head injuries and some teeth missing. His hands were tied up with a rope.

It is alleged by the two foreign nationals that the deceased, together with his two friends who fled the scene, were trying to rob them at their business.

A toy gun which was allegedly used by the deceased and his two accomplices was found at the scene and the deceased was identified. Two male foreigners; aged 45 and 42, were arrested for murder and will appear in court soon. A case of attempted burglary was also registered for investigation.

Following the incident, foreign owned shops were looted and Public Order Police were called to monitor the situations, and seven suspects were arrested for public violence.
