Welkom: On the 3 January 2020, the police in Thabong responded to a shooting incident at Solmar Flats in Presbyterian Street, Thabong. On arrival in one of the rooms, the police found blood stains and the furniture was ransacked.
One 7, 65 live ammunition and two empty cartridges were also found. Further inspection led to the discovery of mandrax tablets and cash. Preliminary investigation revealed that a group of armed men arrived at the block of flats looking for a particular person.
They apparently knocked on every door until at the victim`s room where shots were allegedly fired and a 31 year old man injured on his left arm. He was referred to hospital by neighbours.
Further investigation at the scene led to the recovery of more mandrax tablets found inside a white Toyota Tazz covered in a blood stained blanket. A case of dealing in drugs and attempted murder has been registered for further investigation.
A total of 2500 and 8 halves of mandrax tablets valued at about R125 000.00, an undisclosed amount of cash and a vehicle were confiscated.
The 31 year old victim, who is now a suspect, is under police guard in hospital and will appear in court once he is discharged.
