Spring is springing!!!

We all know that September is the beginning of a new season in the Southern Hemisphere, trees are blooming and flowers are blossoming, the weather is warm. Yup, you guessed it… GOODBYE WINTER!!! HELLO SPRING!!!

Naturally a new season should mean new beginnings and definitely a new look in your wardrobe. Time to put away those coats, jackets and boots and bring out those shorts, dresses and sandals. “Vez’ithanga!!!” (Show some skin) but take caution not to reveal too much skin.

Let us take a look at some of the hottest trends for Spring 2018/2019.

Before we get to the nitty-gritty of it we need to understand that Fashion is an art & art is a creative form of science & science can never be possible without creativity.

Artworks by some of history’s greatest artists such as Leonardo Da Vinci and Picasso display some form of abstract mathematical or scientific techniques to them.

Just as Biology and science has laws that define them, art is no exception and fashion is so cyclical that there’s even a law by fashion historian James Laver called the Laver’s law.

This law was created in the 1930’s and it defines how quickly a trend or style from the past becomes “beautiful” once again.

According to this law it takes at least half a century for something to be fashionable again and designers look for inspiration and ideas from trends that were fashionable about 20 to 30 years ago. So we’ll definitely be seeing a lot of 90’s looks coming back.

Trending Season Colours for Spring 2018/2019

This season we see a lot of pastel hues trending on the runway. Now your colours don’t exactly have to be the same tones as those on the runway… Maybe you prefer a lot more softer tones, you can still hit your soft tones just make sure that they are in line with the trending colours.
