Thaba Nchu: A 21 year-old male is in police custody after 11 cows were recovered following a crime intelligence driven operation.

On Thursday; 11 June 2020, a farmer realized that his eleven cows were stolen from a kraal near his home at Morago Trust, Thaba Nchu. He immediately alerted his neighbours and police were also summoned to the scene.

A case of stock theft was opened for investigation. Detective Warrant Officer Sehloho Molefe from Parkroad Stock Theft and Endangered Species was assigned to the case.

Reliable informers were tasked to be on the look-out for the stolen stock and on Friday; 12 June 2020, stock theft members received a tip off from reliable sources. Members acted swiftly upon receiving information and managed to trace all cows valued at about R68 000,00, about 40 kilometres from where they were stolen.

They were found behind a mountain near Phalafala Trust and police managed to trace a suspect on Saturday; 20 June 2020.

Police appeals to community members to refrain from taking law into their own hands and allow law to deal with culprits. Stock owners are further requested to brand mark their stock according to their brand marks.
