Brandfort: Petrus Fourie, 47, appeared at the Brandfort Magistrate court facing charges of stock theft. This follows a case of stock theft that was opened on 18 January 2019. 10 calves and 15 cattle, worth about R210 000, were stolen from Swartkoppies Farm near Brandfort.
An investigation was instituted and a crime intelligence information led to a farm where the stock theft unit and Brandfort members discovered ten calves. Although the suspect had already marked the calves with his own brand, the owner identified them positively.
The suspect was arrested on Wednesday 23 January 2019 and made his first appearance on the 25 January 2019. The case was postponed to yesterday (29 January 2019) and he was remanded in custody till his appearance yesterday.
