Sasolburg: A good relationship between the police and the community in Sasolburg led to the arrest of one male for being in possession of suspected stolen property, theft and reckless and negligent driving.
It is alleged that on Sunday, 14 October 2018, a complainant went to Tarina sentrum shopping complex at Vaalpark, where he went to withdraw money and while he was busy at the ATM, his card was scammed by two unknown males.
After a few minutes, the complainant received a message notification that his money was withdrawn from Caltex in Sasolburg. The complainant contacted the community patrollers who operate daily with their own resources like cellphones, vehicles & drones and they mobilized the police.
On Police arrival at the scene, the complainant managed to point out the suspects and a chase ensued between the police and the suspects.
The suspects’ vehicle lost control and drove into a fence, one of the suspects was arrested for possession of suspected stolen property, theft and reckless and negligent driving while the other suspect managed to flee the scene.
The 40 year old suspect will appear at the Sasolburg Magistrate court today; Tuesday; 16 October 2018.

The criminals must know that they cannot defeat the solid partnership that exists between the police and the community. We commend our public for their vigilance,bravery and commitment.”
