Bethulie: Three suspects aged between 16 and 18, appeared before the Bethulie Magistrates Court on Monday; 21 September 2020, for murder and robbery.

The three teenagers were arrested shortly for the murder of a Bangladeshi shopkeeper that occurred on the 18 September 2020 at New Stands Location, Bethulie.

It is alleged that the suspects entered the shop through breaking the door and when the shopkeeper was awake, he was hit on the head with a bush axe several times until he fell on the floor. An undisclosed amount of money, packets of cigarettes and airtime were stolen.

When the police arrived at the scene, an eye witness described the suspects and they were traced to a shack in the same area. They were found sleeping and arrested.

Items suspected to have been stolen including cash were found in the shack as well as shoes that had blood stained.
