Kroonstad: Three suspects, Majovu Omar (39), Shaffiq Mugerwa (40) and Daniel Byansi (42); all Ugandan Nationals, appeared in the Kroonstad Magistrate Court yesterday; 15 June 2020, on a charge of fraud.
The case was postponed to 22 June 2020 and all suspects remained in custody.
They are in custody for fraud charges to the amount of R49 750 00. Anyone who happened to be a victim of these suspects is also requested to contact Capt. Sello Mokhele.
It is alleged that suspects pretended to be traditional healers who helps victims with luck, providing good fortune, protection and healing their sickness. They would promise their victims that they can help them to have money and prosperity. The victims are even encouraged to resign from their work and deposit all their pension money in these bogus doctors’ accounts so that their money can multiply.
The suspects were having a muthi-shop in Murray Street, in Kroonstad trading as Dr. Suna where they consulted with their clients.
Police in Kroonstad request community to assist in tracing the fourth suspect, who calls herself Betty, Beauty or Susan. She is also working together with these arrested suspects.
