Zastron: Police in the Free State are investigating four murders following a gruesome fight that occurred on Saturday night; the 06 June 2020, at Matlakeng location in Zastron.
In the first incident, a 24 year old male was stabbed in the chest by two suspects, aged 24 and 26 and he died at the scene. It is alleged that the two were fighting for a girlfriend. Police were called to the scene and preliminary investigation was done. Suspects were arrested moments later.
Shortly thereafter, the police were summoned to another area where a shack was burning. After the fire was extinguished, a burnt body of an unknown male; aged 25, was discovered inside the shack.
After preliminary investigation was conducted, nine (9) suspects; aged between 18 and 39 years, were arrested for allegedly setting alight the back room (shack) that claimed the life of the victim.
At about 23:15pm, the police were called to another scene of murder where an unknown man was found stabbed in the neck and was certified dead at the scene.
The last incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday; 07 June 2020, where it is alleged that three males entered a house in Matlakeng and ransacked the house before assaulting a 36 years old occupant. The occupant (now suspect) retaliated and fatally stabbed one of the three people who entered. He allegedly attacked him at his place.
Investigations into all four murders and arson which are suspected to be gang related, continues. All twelve (12) suspects appeared before the Zastron Magistrates Court on Tuesday; 09 June 2020.
Their case was postponed to 15 June 2020 for formal bail application legal representation and they remained in custody.
