Botshabelo: The SAPS Tactical Response Team members arrested a suspect and confiscated an unlicensed firearm. The neighbour was also arrested for dealing in dagga.

On Wednesday; 23 February 2022, TRT members received information about an unknown male with unlicensed firearm.

Members operationalized the information which led them to R Section in Botshabelo. Upon arrival, they found a 22-year-old male.  The members were granted permission to search his shack.

Upon searching the shack, members found a black and silver pistol hidden under a mattress. The man, who could not produce a valid license for the firearm, was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm. It was later discovered that the firearm was reported stolen in De Deur. The 22-year-old suspect was arrested.

While busy effecting an arrest, they approached a suspicious looking male who was looking-on, while the 22-year-old was being arrested. The suspect was searched and his shack was also visited.

While searching, members found a black plastic bag hidden under the bed. Upon inspection, members found dagga in small bags ready for distribution. The 23-year-old suspect was arrested for dealing in dagga.

Both suspects will appear in the Botshabelo Magistrate’s Court soon for possession of unlicensed firearm, dealing in dagga and contravention of Immigration Act.
