Villiers: Two males, 24 and 22 years old, appeared in the Villiers magistrate court on 30 June 2020 for alleged murder charges. The case was postponed to the 07 July 2020 for bail application, while the suspects remain in custody.
It is alleged that in the early hours of Sunday, 28 June 2020, the deceased and his three friends were on their way home from a house in Ext 8, Qalabotjha Village; Villiers, where they were busy drinking.
While on their way, the 17 year old deceased, stopped to urinate and his friends continued on walking. It is alleged that one of the suspects, asked him why he was urinating on the street before the three started to assault him.
All suspects who assaulted him, were also coming from the same drinking spot. The deceased’s friends came back to rescue him and the three suspects managed to run away.
His friends managed to carry him home and left him on the couch where he fell asleep.
After a few hours, his friends went to check on him and he did not respond. They then called an ambulance which declared him dead. He sustained head injuries. Preliminary investigation led to the arrest of two of the three suspects and the police are still on the lookout for the third suspect.
