Heidedal: Three suspects aged 36, 27 and 21 appeared in the Bloemfontein Magistrate court on Tuesday; 23 June 2020 on a charge of murder.
The case was postponed to Tuesday; 30 June 2020 for formal bail application.
Members of Heidedal SAPS were on patrol near Rembrandt Crescent – Heidedal, on Sunday; 21 June when they saw two males assaulting and dragging the 17 year old deceased. Upon enquiry, suspects told the police that the deceased had been assaulted by members of the community on allegations that he had attempted to rape a girl in Opkoms location in Heidedal.
The deceased died on the scene. A third suspect was arrested later. The detectives are currently establishing if more suspects were involved. The nature and extent of injuries cannot be ascertained at this stage.
Bethlehem: On another separate incident, police in Bohlokong are investigating a case of murder after a 32 year old man was fatally stabbed with a knife on 21 June 2020, in the morning. It is alleged that both the deceased and the 27-year old suspect were having drinks with other friends.
An argument started between the two and suspect allegedly pulled the deceased outside the room and stabbed him before fleeing the scene. Letsoaka was declared dead on the scene by the Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
The alleged suspect was later found and assaulted by the community who then closed the streets with burning tyres and throwing stones at the motorists. No arrests have been made as yet.
