Bethlehem: On Friday, 18 January 2019, a 31-year-old man appeared in the Bethlehem Magistrates Court for allegedly raping his 24-year-old girlfriend. According to the victim, her current boyfriend came to her rented room after her former boyfriend had just left.
He threatened her with a knife and allegedly raped her. Victim managed to seek help after he had left. The suspect will be back in the same court on 24 January for a formal bail application.
In a separate incident: An 18-year-old man appeared briefly in the Bethlehem Magistrates Court on Monday, 21 January 2019, for a rape which took place in August 2018. The victim, then fifteen years old, was walking with her sister-in-law in Bohlokong`s Volgelsfontein Location.
The suspect appeared and started to talk to her sister-in-law. He is alleged to have suddenly grabbed the victim and took her to a nearby shack where he raped her.
He was back in court yesterday, 22 January 2019.
