Phuthaditjhaba: The Phuthaditjhaba Cluster Operational Core Command-Crime Combatting Unit finally closed their package on a wanted suspect after arresting him with two unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

On 29 January 2019, Constable Thato Motloung of Phuthaditjhaba Cluster Crime Combatting Unit was off-duty when she followed a suspicious brown Audi sedan vehicle with GP registration for almost three days. Her patience finally paid off when she stood observing the suspect parking behind the fuel garage. She immediately summoned the various units for assistance.

Phuthaditjhaba CCU, Mounted, Public Order Police, K9, Local Criminal Record Centre, two CIT Highway Patrol vehicles of CCU and Flying Squad, responded the call.

The suspect was caught off-guard and his vehicle searched. Two unlicensed firearms and four live rounds were found and confiscated together with the car he was driving. Further investigation revealed that the suspect has outstanding warrant of arrest on Namahadi case of attempted murder during March 2018 and another outstanding case at Kestell business robbery, which took place on November 2018 in Kestell.

The 28-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Phuthaditjhaba Magistrate court soon facing charges of possession of unlicenced firearm and ammunition.
